Frequently Asked Questions about CareLink
What is Valley Children’s CareLink?
CareLink is Valley Children’s web-based application that combines all our current electronic medical record (EMR) systems into one single, integrated platform. Through Valley Children’s CareLink portal, you will be able to access patient information, follow the progress of care for referred patients, improved the ability to coordinate ongoing care and more.
What information can I see in CareLink?
CareLink provides view-only access to a patient’s Valley Children’s medical record, including lab results, diagnostic test results, hospitalization records, procedural information, discharge instructions, progress notes, medications, allergies, medical history and more.
How does CareLink work?
CareLink provides registered users with secure access to EMR information and test results from Valley Children’s Hospital, along with all specialty and primary care locations. Providers will also be able to track the status of any referrals sent to Valley Children’s.
Who can use CareLink?
This is available to referring physicians and their support staff, clinical partners, community-based care partners and insurance providers.
What computer equipment is required?
To access CareLink, it’s recommended you have a high-speed or DSL internet connection and current browser editions of Internet Explorer or Chrome. CareLink uses industry-standard encryption technology to ensure that only you and designated staff have access.
Is there a fee?
Valley Children’s provides CareLink at no cost and does not require additional equipment.
How long will I have access to my patient’s information on the legacy portals (Athena and Meditech)?
Valley Children’s is in the process of transferring all data from our current patient portals to our new EMR. To ensure uninterrupted access to your patients’ records, please register for a CareLink account.
How do I sign up for CareLink?
Please return to www.valleychildrens.org/carelink and follow the instructions for setting up a new account.
Is training required to use CareLink?
After your site agreement is signed and access to our portal is granted, we recommend you and your staff access the online training tools available to you at no charge. CareLink is designed to be as intuitive and user-friendly as possible, though our online tutorials will ensure you are comfortable with the platform.
I am already on Epic. Can I access patient records through Care Everywhere or do I still need to sign up for a CareLink account?
If you currently use the Epic platform, the transition to Valley Children’s EMR will be seamless. Starting April 25, you will automatically be able to access our records via Care Everywhere. There are no site agreements for you to sign.
