Why did you choose Valley Children’s Pediatric Residency?
I am excited about the abundant opportunities to engage in advocacy projects. I am also drawn to the variety of pathologies I will be exposed to at Valley Children's as a free-standing children's hospital. I am enthused that most attendings are deeply involved in the community and I look forward to learning from them. And, of course, the location of Valley Children's Hospital is the icing on the cake for me; Fresno is a hidden gem in California and it is close to everything and everyone I hold dear.

Hobbies:
I love taking walks by the beach, watching TV shows, cooking, exploring new cuisines, reading, writing, spending time with my family and friends

Advocacy and Research Interests and Accomplishments:
I am passionate about opportunities to work with the underserved to bridge healthcare disparities. I have led an advocacy project to curate stories from physicians who frequently encounter immigrant children to glean lessons in caring for immigrant children. I have also worked on a qualitative research project to explore the journey of English learner families of pediatric patients as they navigate the healthcare space. My research has been focused on researching alternative healthcare financing schemes in West Africa and evaluating the impact of improved access to surgical operating rooms on surgical outcomes in Africa. My other interests include medical education and patient safety and I have been involved in a qualitative improvement project geared at improving the variety of procedures residents/medical students are exposed to, with the ultimate aim of improving patient safety.

Care Philosophy:
I am committed to effectively communicating with my patients and families and incorporating shared decision-making principles into caring for my patients. I believe in advocating for patients beyond the four walls of the hospital and being keenly cognizant of the impact that social determinants of health play in patient outcomes.
