Joann's Volunteer Story

JoAnn Miller, more commonly known as, “Grandma JoAnn,” has served as a volunteer chaplain aide through our spiritual care program for 17 consecutive years. Each Tuesday, JoAnn meets with inpatients and their families to provide moral support and a short prayer. Often times these connections turn into long term relationships because of her consistency and compassion. This is especially true for patients who make frequent visits to the hospital.

Grandma JoAnn has also volunteered in the endocrinology clinic for many years. She has worked diligently to assist the clinic with organizing educational material that is shared with our patients.

JoAnn’s kind nature has made a significant impact in the lives of hundreds of patients and families over the years. Her dedication and commitment to Valley Children’s and enhancing the healing process for so many is a gift beyond measure.
