Valley Children's Continues to Make an Impact with the Help of St. Baldrick's

Our mission at Valley Children’s has always been to provide the best quality care for our patients. To achieve this, we aim to hire the best of the best, continue to learn about new technologies and techniques and team up with incredible partner organizations that share our mission and help us provide top-level care.

We are proud to announce we are furthering our commitment to our patients and their care with the help of the St. Baldrick’s Foundation. Valley Children’s was one of the 26 institutions selected to receive a grant aimed at supporting pediatric cancer clinical trials. Clinical trials are critical in the fight against childhood cancer, and we are proud to conduct this clinical research to help further the level of care we provide for our oncology patients. Over $1.2 million in grants were given to institutions throughout the U.S. to support these crucial efforts in clinical research.

“It is truly an honor for me to accept this infrastructural grant on behalf of Valley Children’s Cancer and Blood Disorders Center,” Valley Children’s Hematologist and Oncologist Dr. Karen Fernandez says. “The cancer research we can continue to conduct with this grant will further our mission of creating better futures for our children, offering hope for a life after cancer with fewer side effects. It will also allow us to enroll more patients in the Central Valley without them having to leave their hometowns. Our kids are counting on us and thanks to St. Baldrick’s, this vital work can continue.”

We thank St. Baldrick's for their continued support and Dr. Karen Fernandez for leading these vital efforts for our hospital.
