(Madera, California) – Valley Children’s has again been recognized as one of the best places to work in healthcare in the country. Becker’s Healthcare released its “150 Top Places to Work in Healthcare | 2023” list this week, honoring Valley Children’s for strong investments in employees’ well-being, satisfaction and fulfillment. This is the third time Valley Children’s has received this distinction from Becker’s, the leading source of business and legal information for the healthcare industry.

“The commitment of our staff – day in, day out and under extraordinary circumstances – is exceptional,” said Valley Children’s Healthcare President and CEO Todd Suntrapak. “Their service to our patients and families, and to one another, is inspiring to witness and ensures that we will continue to provide the best care for kids for at least another seven decades. Taking care of our team so that they can take care of the kids is central to the mission of Valley Children’s Healthcare.”

Becker’s singled out Valley Children’s robust benefits packages, employee discounts, educational assistance, and free access to an onsite primary and urgent care clinic for workforce members and their families. Becker’s also pointed out that in 2022, Valley Children’s filled almost one quarter of all open positions with internal staff, promoting from within to support employee career growth.

“This is an amazing recognition of all the work Valley Children’s does to engage, encourage, develop and protect our workforce,” said Kelly Beall, Valley Children’s senior vice president and chief people officer. “Creating programs based on feedback from our teams and supporting a culture of excellence are what make acknowledgements like this possible and, most importantly, they make Valley Children’s one of the best places to come to work each and every day.”

With more than 6,000 hospitals and health systems across the country, Valley Children’s is one of only eight children’s hospitals on the list, which also includes some of the country’s leading healthcare institutions, including Cleveland Clinic, Johns Hopkins Medicine and Mayo Clinic.

Becker’s Hospital Review has published a version of this list since 2011. The featured organizations provide comprehensive benefits packages, opportunities for professional development, inclusive work environments and the flexibility needed for a true work-life balance. These honorees prove that when employees' needs and desires are met, the entire organization is better for it – they are able to make a greater impact on the lives of patients. Becker's also factored in community impact, acknowledging organizations that place an emphasis on giving back to their communities and providing volunteer opportunities.
