Valley Children's Hospital President and Chief Administrative Officer

William Chaltraw is Valley Children's Hospital President and Chief Administrative Officer. In his role, William oversees hospital and medical group administration and operational strategy.
William has worked at Valley Children’s for nearly a decade. He previously served as senior vice president and chief legal officer, providing in-house general legal counsel services for administration, medical staff leadership and the Boards of Trustees on corporate matters and ongoing compliance with local, state and federal rules and regulations. He was instrumental in identifying the opportunity and completing a partnership to bring a behavioral health facility to the Valley Children’s campus, co-founding the Padrinos Guild of Valley Children’s Healthcare and forming Compass Health Administrators and Valley Children’s Insurance Company.
William has deep ties to the Central Valley community and is passionate about supporting children’s health and education. He currently serves as director and vice-chair of the Fresno Catholic School System Board of Directors. He also chaired the Board of the American Red Cross of the Central Valley, as well as the Board of Exceptional Parents Unlimited, a nonprofit focused on supporting families and children with unique needs through early intervention. Through his extensive leadership and volunteer roles, William demonstrates his unwavering commitment to enhancing the well-being of children and strengthening the communities he serves.
Prior to joining Valley Children’s, William was a practicing attorney and partner with the firms of Baker, Manock & Jensen and Fishman, Larsen, Chaltraw & Zeitler, where his practice focused on healthcare law. He advised clients on the development and implementation of strategic affiliations with hospitals and healthcare systems that improved delivery and access to care. He worked to develop and implement programs that balance physician, hospital and patient concerns with the realities of the complex and ever-changing landscape of the healthcare industry.
William earned a certificate in executive leadership from Harvard Business School, a juris doctorate degree from the University of Houston Law Center in Houston, Texas, and a bachelor of science degree in biology from the University of California, Los Angeles. In his free time, William enjoys running, reading historical novels, rooting for his beloved UCLA Bruins and spending time with his wife and two children.
