Imaging Specialties and Services
Our pediatric imaging team has expertise in many different types of imaging. Our services are focused on using minimal radiation and include:
- Diagnostic imaging/fluoroscopy
- Computed tomography (CT)
- Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)
- Ultrasound (US)
- Nuclear medicine
- Prenatal diagnostic services
In addition, our team collaborates with other pediatric subspecialties and services throughout the hospital to deliver the best care for our patients, including:
- Emergency Department: nearly all imaging services are available 24/7 for emergency care
- Genetic medicine and metabolism: providing prenatal services as part of the Prenatal Diagnostic Center in collaboration with the Genetic Medicine Practice
- Neurology and neurosurgery: providing CT / MRI to our neurologists and neurosurgeons
- Nuclear medicine
- Oncology
- Orthopaedics: imaging on plain film and CT/MRI
- Pediatric anesthesiologists: partnering for sedation and general anesthesia
- Pediatric surgery
- PICU & NICU
- Urology
Advanced imaging technology
Our team uses some of the most advanced imaging technology available, including:
- 3D imaging techniques
- 64-slice multi-detector computed tomography (CT) scanner
- MRI (3.0T & 1.5T)
- Computed Radiography (CR) and Digital Radiography (DR) film-less environment including Pictorial Archival Communications Systems (PACS)
The advantages of this advanced equipment and techniques include less radiation exposure, faster image acquisition time, higher quality images for better diagnosis and less need for repeat exams, shorter ED and imaging visits, and reduced need for sedation services.
