Nondiscrimination Statement
Valley Children’s Healthcare complies with applicable Federal civil rights laws and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, age, disability, or sex. Privacy Policies
The privacy of patients and their families is very important to us at Valley Children's Healthcare. Valley Children's is compliant with all federal HIPAA requirements.
Below you will find links to Valley Children's Healthcare's privacy policies. The "General" policy applies to all hospital patients. A Child’s Bill of Rights
As a Patient of Valley Children's Hospital:
- I have the right to be called by my name and not by a number or illness.
- I have the right to be greeted with a smile and treated with loving care.
- I have the right to know the names of my doctors, nurses and helpers who will take care of me.
- I have the right to have everyone who visits me knock on my door before coming into my room.
- I have the right to have doctors and nurses explain why they are in my room.
- I have the right to be told if something might hurt, sting or pinch me.
- I have the right to be a part of the plan that will make me feel better and help me go home.
- I have the right to be cared for in the best and safest way possible.
- I have the right to have doctors and nurses listen to me about how I feel.
- I have the right to be cared for the same way no matter what!
- I have the right to not have nurses or doctors talk about me as if I’m not there.
- I have the right to have a say in what makes me comfortable like food, my bed and lights.
General Questions or Comments
About Medical Questions - If at any time you have urgent medical questions, please contact your primary physician, call 911 or go to your local emergency room. We cannot diagnose or treat by e-mail. Providing personal health information through this website is not secure over the Internet so please do not share personal information. Valley Children’s and our physician group wishes to maintain privacy and uphold the highest quality standards.
For comments or questions not related to medical advice, we would like to be able to respond to your email. However, if you include personal health information, we will need to send a response that is encrypted. You will still be able to view the response, but you will have to set up a secure user name and password. We take these precautions to protect you and your child’s personal health information. Please also provide the best contact information, including a telephone number, so we can contact you.

Joint Commission Public Notice
The Joint Commission (TJC) has an unannounced survey process for hospital accreditation. The purpose of the survey is to evaluate the organization's compliance with nationally established Joint Commission standards. The Joint Commission standards focus on patient safety and quality of care.

Valley Children’s is committed to protecting your privacy, including when visiting our websites and apps. We have compiled this privacy policy to give you a clear understanding of how we collect, use, protect or otherwise handle information in accordance with our website.
What personal information do we collect from the people that visit our blog, website or app?
You usually can visit our sites without submitting any information about yourself. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act and California Online Privacy Protection Act
When it comes to the collection of personal information from children under 13, the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) puts parents in control. The Federal Trade Commission, the nation's consumer protection agency, enforces the COPPA Rule, which spells out what operators of websites and online services must do to protect children's privacy and safety online. We do not specifically market to children under 13.
CalOPPA is the first state law in the nation to require commercial websites and online services to post a privacy policy. The law's reach stretches well beyond California to require a person or company in the United States that operates websites collecting personally identifiable information from California consumers to post a conspicuous privacy policy on its website stating exactly the information being collected and those individuals with whom it is being shared, and to comply with this policy.
CAN-SPAM Act
The CAN-SPAM Act is a law that sets the rules for commercial email, establishes requirements for commercial messages, gives recipients the right to have emails stopped from being sent to them, and spells out tough penalties for violations.
We collect your email address in order to:
- Send information, respond to inquiries, and/or other requests or questions.
To be in accordance with CAN-SPAM we agree to the following:
- Not use false or misleading subjects or email addresses
- Include the physical address of our business or site headquarters
- Monitor third party email marketing services for compliance, if one is used
- Honor opt-out/unsubscribe requests quickly
- Allow users to unsubscribe by using the link at the bottom of each email
