Board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics, the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Quality Assurance and Utilization Review, Dr. Richard Sidlow joined Valley Children’s Specialty Medical Group in 2020.
Dr. Sidlow remains active in high-level teaching and research as an assistant professor in New York for the department of pediatrics at Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra-Northwell Health, and in internal medicine and pediatrics at the State University of New York-Health Science Center in Brooklyn. He is an active mentor to his students and provides clinical, research and career guidance.
Additionally, Dr. Sidlow held various appointments at Staten Island University Hospital-Northwell Health in New York including: Associate Chairman of the Department of Pediatrics, Director of Performance Improvement for the Department of Pediatrics, Director of Pediatric Hospital Medicine, Director of Regular/Observation Nurseries and Director of the Pediatric Third-year Medical Student Clerkship. He has also secured funding for research at Staten Island University Hospital for studies on ketonemia as a marker of feeding sufficiency in neonates and for diagnosis of pediatric pneumonia using electronic nose technology.
Dr. Sidlow has been featured in various posters, presentations and peer-reviewed publications such as the American College of Medical Genetics, Clinical Pediatrics and Pediatrics in Review. He has collaborated with his wife, Eve J. Lowenstein, MD, PhD, on publications in the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology and the British Journal of Dermatology on the topic of cognitive bias and the use of heuristics in dermatologic diagnosis. He also served as an editorial reviewer for various peer-review publications including the American Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, Laryngoscope, Journal of Clinical Rheumatology and Journal of Ophthalmic Pathology.
Dr. Sidlow earned a doctorate of medicine from the State University of New York-Health Science Center at Brooklyn and completed internship and residency in combined internal medicine and pediatrics at Staten Island University Hospital-Northwell Health. He also completed a fellowship in medical genetics and genomics at Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
Active in the medical community, Dr. Sidlow is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, American College of Physicians and American Board of Quality Assurance and Utilization Review Physicians. He is also a member of the Society of Human Genetics, European Society of Human Genetics, Society of Hospital Medicine, Society to Improve Diagnosis in Medicine and American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics.
In addition to English, Dr. Sidlow speaks Spanish and Hebrew.
