Board certified in general and pediatric surgery by the American Board of Surgery, Dr. Stephanie Jones joined Valley Children’s in 2011 as a pediatric surgeon. She went on to work at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas where she was assistant professor of surgery and pediatric trauma medical director at University Medical Center. She returned to Valley Children’s in 2021 as a pediatric surgeon with the goal to pursue several special interests including oncology, minimally invasive surgery, neonatal surgery and general pediatric surgery.
Dr. Jones has been published in several peer-reviewed publications, such as Journal of Pediatric Surgery, Journal of Clinical Oncology and Gene Therapy. She has also presented on numerous topics in her field, and has co-authored book chapters in Newborn Surgery, Third Edition, Guide to Pediatric Urology and Surgery Clinical Practice and Pediatric Surgery.
She has a wealth of knowledge in her field and shares her expertise as a member of several professional organizations, including the Pediatric Trauma Society, the American College of Surgeons and the American Pediatric Surgical Association.
Dr. Jones received her doctorate in osteopathic medicine from Midwestern University in Glendale, Arizona. She completed residencies in general surgery at the University of Massachusetts and pediatric surgery at the University of Colorado. During her training, she spent three years at the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, Maryland, where she completed both immunotherapy and surgical oncology fellowships.
Her outside interests include running, skiing and hiking.
