Board certified in pediatric anesthesiologyby the American Board of Anesthesiology and in pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics, Dr. Randall Morton joined Valley Children’s in 1991 practicing anesthesiology and critical care medicine.
Currently Dr. Morton is co-medical director of perioperative services at Valley Children’s. He has also served as medical staff chairman of the department of anesthesiology and critical care, chairman of the sedation subcommittee, and president of the Pediatric Anesthesia Associates Medical Group.
Prior to Valley Children’s, Dr. Morton practiced general pediatrics from 1980 to 1986 in Fremont, Neb., bringing his specialized experience to the perioperative services at Valley Children’s.
Dr. Morton practiced anesthesiology and taught as an assistant professor of anesthesiology at the University of Nebraska Medical College in Omaha. He also served as a clinical instructor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Nebraska. Here, he participated in research involving the effects of medications on the pregnant patient and human fetus. He also helped the transplant surgeons conduct research, including small bowel transplantation.
Dr. Morton has published in peer-reviewed publications, such as The Journal of Reproductive Medicine, and authored a chapter on perioperative fluid therapy.
Dr. Morton received his medical degree from the University of Nebraska, College of Medicine. He completed residencies in the Department of Anesthesiology and the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.
