Practice Philosophy

"It is a privilege to be able to take care of children and their parents with both highly specialized and more common problems of the hand and upper extremity. My hope is to provide quality care with the hopes of improving the lives and function of my patients."

Board certified in plastic and reconstructive surgery, Dr. Michael Galvez joined the Valley Children’s plastic and reconstructive surgery team in 2019 with specialized training in congenital hand deformities and upper extremity surgery.
 
Dr. Galvez has done extensive research in plastic and hand surgery; he has been published in various abstracts, chapters and peer reviewed publications including Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the Journal of Hand Surgery.
 
Dr. Galvez received his undergraduate degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of California at Berkeley. He earned his medical degree from Stanford University School of Medicine in 2011 and completed a Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) research fellowship. Dr. Galvez completed his residency in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Stanford University in 2017 where he was inducted in the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Medical Honor Society. He completed additional fellowships in 2018 in combined hand and microvascular surgery at the University of Washington in Seattle and in pediatric upper extremity surgery at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children in Dallas, Texas.

Fluent in English and Spanish, Dr. Galvez also enjoys illustration and spending time with his family.
