Dr. Kinnison is passionate about educating children and families about health and safety issues, and inspiring local youth to pursue exciting careers in healthcare. His own leadership path at Valley Children’s began more than a decade ago when he became co-medical director, and subsequent medical director, of The Guilds Child Advocacy Clinic at Valley Children’s Hospital, which provides comprehensive services for children and their families who have suffered suspected abuse or neglect.
Additional Valley Children’s positions Dr. Kinnison holds today include: medical director, emergency preparedness; chair, board of directors, Valley Children’s Specialty Medical Group; chair, department of medicine; and chair, Marketing, Strategy and Communications Committee. He continues to provide physician consultative services for the Child Advocacy Clinic on inpatient cases of suspected child abuse.
Dr. Kinnison also serves as the site lead for Pediatric Research in the Inpatient Study (PRIS) – a national pediatric research network focused on improving inpatient health care delivery and best practice medicine.
Dr. Kinnison received his medical degree at Loyola University Chicago, Stritch School of Medicine, in Maywood, Illinois. He completed a pediatric residency at the University of California, San Francisco-Fresno. The residency training he received at Valley Children’s Hospital inspired him to become a pediatric hospitalist.
