Board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in general pediatrics and hospital medicine, Dr. Whitney Kalin joined Valley Children's as a pediatric hospitalist in October 2013. Her areas of clinical interest include pediatric sepsis and coccidiomycosis.
Before coming onboard full-time, Dr. Kalin provided locums coverage for Valley Children's since November 2011 as well as at other hospitals in California and Alaska. Previously, she worked at Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center in Topeka, Kansas, as an attending pediatric hospitalist since 2010. Dr. Kalin served as an active duty captain and then major in the U.S. Army at Fort Riley, Kansas, from 2007 to 2010. While there, she worked as a general pediatrician and Pediatric Advanced Life Support director at Irwin Community Hospital.
Dr. Kalin is a member of several professional societies, including the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Dr. Kalin received her medical degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville, Tennessee. She completed her residency in pediatrics at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii.
In her free time, Dr. Kalin enjoys spending time with her husband, dogs, parrots, and chickens, as well as day trading, gardening, and all things Comic-Con related.
