Dr. Weam Alnayem joined Valley Children’s as a pediatric endocrinologist in 2024. 

Dr. Alnayem’s research interests are diverse, with a focus on diabetes and endocrinology. She has been a primary investigator in studies examining the relationship between Vitamin D and Hemoglobin A1C in Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus and the effectiveness of novel diabetes transition programs. Her work has been presented at several conferences. Dr. Alnayem is dedicated to improving pediatric healthcare through her extensive clinical and research work. During her medical training, she has served in various hospitals in Sudan and the United States, gaining a broad spectrum of experience in pediatrics and endocrinology.

Her passion for community service is reflected in her volunteer work, including working with the University of Khartoum Student Association Mobile Clinic. In the U.S., she contributed to the Family Health Program in Brooklyn, NY, an initiative focused on obesity prevention in children.

After earning her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the University of Khartoum Faculty of Medicine, Dr. Alnayem went on to a pediatric residency at Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY. Following her residency, Dr. Alnayem completed a pediatric endocrinology fellowship at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.
