Dr. Venkata Sushma Chamarthi joined Valley Children’s Primary Care Group in 2024 as a pediatrician practicing at Dakota Pediatrics in Fresno. In this role, she provides a wide range of pediatric primary care services to infants, children and adolescents, including well-child exams and sick visits. She also has advanced training in pediatric pulmonology and behavioral development, and is certified in obesity medicine through the American Board of Obesity Medicine.
After receiving her medical degree from Andhra Medical College in Visakhapatnam, India, Dr. Chamarthi completed her pediatric residency training at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in El Paso, Texas. Dr. Chamarthi then went on to pursue a fellowship in pediatric pulmonology at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh through the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. During her clinical training, Dr. Chamarthi contributed to the body of academic research in her field, having published in Pediatrics in Review and presented at a variety of industry conferences both nationally and internationally.
Dr. Chamarthi’s dedication to mental and behavioral health compelled her to pursue additional training in child and adolescent psychiatry, including a specific focus on patient-centered mental health and cognitive behavioral therapy for pediatric patients, from the REACH Institute at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and from the University of California, San Francisco.
Prior to her current role, Dr. Chamarthi provided primary care services as a pediatrician at Clinica Sierra Vista Regional Medical Community Health Center in Fresno.
