Practice Philosophy

"I believe that providing excellent care requires a commitment to evidence based practice and a focus on equality of care with respect to the cultural and social diversity of our patient population. I also believe that as physicians of children it is our responsibility to act as advocates in their best interest in all situations to the best of our ability."

Board certified in pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics, Dr. Tara Sutherland joined Valley Children’s in August 2016 as a pediatric hospitalist.

Prior to Valley Children’s, Dr. Sutherland’s work experience includes serving as a pediatric hospitalist at Miller Children’s Hospital in Long Beach.

Dr. Sutherland has presented on topics in her field. She is a member of several professional organizations, including the Endocrine Society and American Academy of Pediatrics. She received her medical degree from Keck School of Medicine, University of Southern California, in Los Angeles, California and completed her internship and residency in pediatrics at University of California, Irvine, Children’s Hospital of Orange County.

In her free time, Dr. Sutherland enjoys volunteering, most recently as a pediatric hospitalist and post anesthesia care unit physician with Destination Hope International Medical Missions in the Philippines. She also enjoys running with her dog and traveling.
