Board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics with specialty certification in pediatric critical care medicine, Dr. Harry Kallas is a member of several professional societies including the American Academy of Pediatrics, Critical Care Section and the North American Spine Society. He has also published in peer-reviewed publications including Current Opinions in Pediatrics and Critical Care Clinics on topics such as drowning.
Dr. Kallas has served in an administrative capacity as medical director for Pediatric Advanced Life Support at Mercy Healthcare Sacramento, and medical director of Pediatric Concentrated Care Unit at Mercy San Juan Medical Center in Carmichael and Methodist Hospital in Sacramento. Dr. Kallas has given numerous lectures and presentations to professional societies on topics such as pediatric neurotrauma and drowning.
An advocate for water safety and drowning prevention, Dr. Kallas has also been involved in the California Drowning Prevention Network, and has done TV and radio interviews on the issue.
Dr. Kallas attended medical school at the University of Colorado School of Medicine in Denver, Colo., where he graduated with honors. He completed a pediatric residency and a fellowship in pediatric critical care medicine at Children’s Hospital and Medical Center in Seattle, Wash.
