Cystic Fibrosis Center
Cystic fibrosis (CF) is an inherited disease of the glands that make mucus and sweat. It is a long-term (chronic), progressive disease. But improved treatments have made it possible for people with this disease to live longer lives, most living into their late 30s and many into their 50s or longer.
The Cystic Fibrosis Center at Valley Children's is accredited by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF) as a patient care, teaching and research center. We are affiliated with the CFF Core Center at Stanford Medical Center and also a California Children’s Services (CCS)-approved practice.
Valley Children’s provides comprehensive services for diagnoses and treatment of CF. We care for nearly 200 patients a year, from newborns to young adults up to age 26. We work in a multidisciplinary environment with an array of pediatric experts helping our patients and families – board-certified pulmonologists, immunologists, ENT specialists, gastroenterologists, dietitians, psychologists, social workers, pharmacists, child life specialists and more.
