Home Ventilator Program
As a California Children’s Services-approved practice, Valley Children’s is dedicated caring for children with diseases that require chronic mechanical ventilation. Our home ventilator program enables ventilator-dependent patients to have as much normalcy as possible while still receiving complex medical treatment. Our goal is to improve the complex care required to safely and seamlessly transition from hospital to home and to make life easier for patients and their families.
Patients with restrictive pulmonary disease or respiratory insufficiency, such as muscular dystrophy, tracheomalacia, spinal cord injury, cerebral palsy or scoliosis, may need home ventilation.
Our nurses and respiratory therapists teach families to do almost everything for their child’s care, including monitoring the ventilator, pulse oximetry to monitor oxygen saturations, feeding and gastric tube care, skin care and more.
