About Me

Board eligible in general pediatrics and neonatology by the American Board of Pediatrics, Dr. Kimberley Gerard joined Valley Children’s as a neonatologist in 2020.

Dr. Gerard comes to Valley Children’s from University of California, Davis, where she worked as a hospitalist. She has been a member in many extracurricular groups including the American Academy of Pediatrics, Association of Women Surgeons, American College of Physicians and American Medical Association. Dr. Gerard prioritizes education and mentorship, which is displayed through her volunteer work at Loma Lina University and University of Hawaii Medical School. There she served on the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education committee as well as on the Loma Lina University Pediatric Residency Program Evaluation Committee. Dr. Gerard also spent time working with medical students in their student run clinic to provide care for the homeless population in Hawaii.

Dr. Gerard has done extensive research in areas including inflammation and pulmonary hypertension and the effects of packed red blood cell transfusion on gastrointestinal oxygenation in newborn infants. Her work has been published in peer-reviewed journals including the American Journal of Perinatology.

After receiving her medical degree from the John A. Burns School of Medicine, University of Hawaii at Manoa, Dr. Gerard spent her first year as a preliminary surgical residency at University of Arizona and completed her second year at Maricopa Intergrated Healthcare System in Arizona. Dr. Gerard went onto complete her pediatric residency at Loma Linda University in California and her fellowship in neonatology at University of California, Davis.

In her free time, Dr. Gerard enjoys being active and traveling. Her favorite outdoor hobbies include running, hiking and paddle boarding.
