About Me
Dr. Finnian Steele (They/Them) is a board-certified pediatrician through the American Board of Pediatrics. They attended medical school in Kentucky and completed their pediatric residency training at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth in Portsmouth, Virginia.
Prior to their current role, Dr. Steele served nine years as a pediatrician for the United States Navy Medical Corps. After an honorable discharge, they spent time traveling and teaching as an adjunct faculty member at the Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine in Pikeville, Kentucky, where they earned their medical degree in 2010.
As an advocate for LGBTQ+ children and youth, Dr. Steele provides lectures and guidance on LBGTQ+ healthcare, healthcare disparities and the challenges LGBTQ+ individuals face in accessing inclusive, knowledgeable healthcare. They have presented to nurses, nursing students, medical students and residents, medical providers, medical support staff and others, addressing concerns related to LGBTQ+ health and wellness.
When not being a pediatrician, Dr. Steele enjoys gardening, hiking, traveling, drawing, laughing and spending time with friends. They live in Fresno with four dogs, two snakes and a plethora of plants.
Dr. Steele joined Valley Children’s Primary Care Group in July 2021 as a pediatrician at Dakota Pediatrics in Fresno.
