Carmen Briones, MD

Board certified in neonatal-perinatal medicine and pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics, Dr. Carmen Briones joined Valley Children’s Specialty Medical Group in 2022.

Prior to her current role, Dr. Briones worked as a general pediatrician at Ridgecrest Regional Hospital and Red Lake Indian Health Services in Ridgecrest, California. She also spent more than a decade at Sanford Health of Northern Minnesota where she was chairman of the department of pediatrics and medical director of the pediatric hospitalist and neonatology programs.

Her investigative research includes work on the application of amplified DNA in critically ill pediatric patients and the use of polymerase chain reaction in neonatal patients. She has also presented her work at various conferences and research events.

Dr. Briones earned her medical degree from the University of Manila in the Philippines, where she also completed a rotating internship and residency in pediatrics at Philippine General Hospital. She then completed fellowship training in perinatal and neonatal medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin through Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin. Dr. Briones received further pediatric resident training at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
