Why did you choose Valley Children's Pediatric Residency Program?
I liked that this program would allow me to pursue my interests in youth advocacy. I was eager to join Valley Children’s in its mission to meet the needs of children in the Central Valley, as I have witnessed first-hand some of the issues they face. I was also drawn to the strong sense of solidarity I observed among the residents and staff when I rotated here, and I was excited to become a part of such a passionate community!
Hobbies: Hiking, bird-watching, arts and crafts, and Netflix.
Advocacy and Research Interests and Accomplishments: During medical school, I was a cofounder of Compass, a student-led organization dedicated to the empowerment of communities in Las Cruces and the Southern New Mexico region through various outreach activities. My previous research experiences focused on characterizing proteins involved in neurodegenerative disease as well as traumatic brain injury.
Care Philosophy: I find it is important to take the time to listen to my patients and their stories. This helps me to better see from their perspective and understand the myriad of factors contributing to their health that may be less apparent.
