Why did you choose Valley Children’s Pediatric Residency?
Kind, supportive program faculty, administration, and co-residents. Location – I have always wanted to move to California and Fresno is a great city to live in! Direct resident – attending education. Well-known and respected in the community, with a great foundation of advocacy.

Hobbies:
Surfing, hiking, dog training, travel.

Advocacy and Research Interests and Accomplishments:
Writing policy advocating for greater institutional support for medical trainees who experience harassment that eventually influenced Biden’s April 2022 strengthening of national Title IX guidelines. Co-founded and led Embrace Indiana, the only student-run street medicine clinic serving the unhoused population of Indianapolis. Wrote policy advocating for increased healthcare accessibility for youths aging out of the foster care system, that was lobbied for at Congress. Routinely connected patients at my program’s free clinic with quality healthcare, aided in overcoming insurance barriers, provided free and discounted lab work and medication, and enrolled patients in a local clinic’s ACO to increase Medicaid payouts and reimbursements.

Care Philosophy:
My holistic approach to medical care is not only to care for the whole body, but also to care for the whole family, through all the ages and stages of pediatric life. Compliance with routine medical care ultimately can only lead to greater health outcomes when our patients' socioeconomic barriers are addressed. The more we can do as physicians to alleviate those hardships, the better we can take care of our patients and their families. Being in the moment with each and every patient while advocating for them at local, state, and national levels will allow us to provide the highest quality of care possible.
