About Me

Board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, Dr. Cesar Santos joined Valley Children’s Specialty Medical Group in September 2016 as medical director, pediatric neurology. His special clinical interests are general pediatric neurology, sleep medicine, and pediatric epilepsy and related drug trials.

With more than 30 years’ experience in his field, Dr. Santos previously practiced at Georgetown University School of Medicine where he was chief, Division of Child Neurology and professor of neurology and pediatrics since 2010. Prior to Georgetown, he held academic appointments in neurology, pediatrics and the Institute for Regenerative Medicine at Wake Forest University School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Well-recognized for his medical expertise and teaching abilities, Dr. Santos won the “Teacher of the Year” award for 2011-2012 at the Department of Pediatrics, Georgetown University Hospital, and ranked among “America’s Top Doctors” each year from 2010 to 2015. He was also inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society at Duke University School of Medicine as a housestaff.

Dr. Santos is a member of several professional societies, including American Academy of Neurology, Child Neurology Society, American Epilepsy Society, International Child Neurology Association, American Society of Neuroimaging, and American Sleep Disorders Association. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

He has served on numerous institutional and public committees, and has presented on topics in his field across the country. He has published his work in book chapters and peer-reviewed publications such as Pediatric Neurology, The New England Journal of Medicine, Journal of Urology and Epilepsy & Behavior.

Dr. Santos received his medical degree at Far Eastern University – Dr. Nicanor Reyes Medical Foundation Institute of Medicine in Manila, Philippines. He did his internship and residency in pediatrics at St. Luke’s – Roosevelt Hospital Center in New York, New York. He completed fellowships in pediatric neurology and neurophysiology at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina.
