Learn More about the Emergency Department:
What is Triage?
When we visit a business, most of us are used to being seen in the order we arrive. A visit to the Emergency Department works a little differently. Nurses in the Emergency Department use a process called triage to determine the order in which patients are seen based on whether they need immediate medical treatment. Wait times can vary depending on how sick or injured each patient is, whether they need immediate medical treatment, and how busy the Emergency Department is. We see patients in the order of those who need the most immediate medical treatment, regardless of each patient’s arrival time.
