It’s summertime, so the stands are packed, and the crack of the bat is back—but before you grab your glove and head to the ballpark, let’s talk about staying safe while cheering on your favorite team!

Baseball Fan Safety Tips
  • Wear sunscreen and stay shaded
    • If you are at a day game, chances are you will be in the sun. Wear sunscreen and be in the shade when possible to avoid sunburn and heat-related injuries.
  • Dress for the weather
    • Check the weather before attending your game to ensure you are dressing appropriately. If it is hot and sunny outside, consider wearing shorts, a T-shirt, sunglasses and a hat. Hats are also a great way to stay protected from the sun while still representing your favorite team!
  • Stay hydrated
    • It is important to always stay hydrated, especially during games where the sun is out. Check the rules of the ballpark you are attending to see if reusable water bottles are permitted and refill it frequently throughout the game.
  • Pay attention
    • Never have your back turned toward the field while the ball is in play. Just like the players, it is important to keep your eye on the ball!
  • Be Prepared
    • Bring essential items you know you will use with you to the ballpark. Items like a glove are great to bring to a game! If a ball comes your way, catching it with a glove is much better than your hand.

So, whether you're catching foul balls or just catching some rays, a little awareness goes a long way. Stay safe and enjoy every inning of your summer at the ballpark!
